Family Resources

“Agriculture is our wisest pursuit, because it will in the end contribute most to real wealth, good morals, and happiness.” ~Thomas Jefferson

There are many great resources available to homeschoolers, educators and any wishing to learn more about dairy farming and agriculture. We have compiled a list below. If you have a resource that you would like to be added to this page, please email us more information for consideration.

Discover Dairy

Bring the dairy farm to you. Discover Dairy is an interactive cross-curricular, multi-leveled lesson series that meets Pennsylvania state education standards and anchors for science, math and reading. The program also incorporates social studies concepts, Common CORE and STEM standards.

Also available are free virtual tours, educational games and more.

The Calving Corner is a live dairy cow birthing center being presented by a partnership of Pennsylvania dairy industry organizations and dairy farm families at the Pennsylvania Farm Show. The Calving Corner is a unique opportunity to witness the miracle of life, see cows and newborn calves up close, and learn more about how Pennsylvania’s dairy farmers work hard every day to responsibly care for their animals and be conscientious stewards of the land and environment.

Virtual Learning Library

Discover Dairy, has launched a virtual learning library for elementary and middle school teachers and students.

The new resource includes interactive videos, e-books and worksheets for students to complete at home. Assessment options, including quiz questions, writing enrichment and drawing activities, are available for teachers.

For families and classrooms that are interested in taking a virtual farm tour and meeting calves on a working dairy farm, Discover Dairy is also hosting virtual chats with dairy farmers. Visit YouTube to join the virtual chat.
